King Charles' Coronation To Be A "Slimmed-Down" Affair: Report

The new monarch's crowning ceremony is expected to be a much more low-key affair than his mother Queen Elizabeth II had.

The coronation of King Charles III is said to be a "thinner" affair than his mother in 1953. The new king's coronation is expected to take place in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on June 3, 2023, according to a report in The Independent.

The coronation of the king will take place nearly 70 years later the day after the coronation of the queen.
At the Queen's coronation, the uproar was huge and more than 8,000 guests were invited to the royal event.

However, King Charles wants it low-key, according to the insider. Palace insiders told the newspaper that this includes stripping away much of the coronation in British history.

King Charles will be the oldest person to be crowned in British history. Reportedly, the guest list for the coronation will be smaller and people can follow a casual dress code.

More than 2,00 people are expected to attend.

It was also reported that the duration of the ceremony will take a little more than an hour.
The ceremony will have fewer mystical rituals. Rituals such as offering gold bars to the king will be abolished.

Queen Elizabeth II was buried on September 20 at Windsor Castle, next to her husband, sister and parents after an elaborate funeral.
