"Trust Me": UK Nurse Asked Mother To Leave, Then Murdered Her Baby Son
A nurse accused of murdering seven babies at the UK hospital where she worked was disturbed by the mother of one of her victims as she tried to kill him, a court heard on Tuesday.
A court heard on Tuesday that a nurse accused of killing seven children at the UK hospital where she worked upset the mother of one of her victims as she tried to kill him.
The woman arrived at the neonatal unit at The Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester, northwest England, on the evening of 4 August 2015,
To find her son "sad" and bleeding from his mouth.
But Lucy Lytby said "believe me, I'm a nurse" and asked her to leave, prosecutor Nick Johnson told Manchester Crown Court.
The young boy died the next day, allegedly, by injecting air into his bloodstream.
Johnson told the jury that the unintended mother was "mocked" by Lytby
D., 32, has pleaded not guilty to the counts of murder, and the attempted murder of 10 other children, including more than once.
The lawyer said Lytby, originally from Hereford in western England, filed "false" nursing notes after the event in an attempt to cover up her effects.
I also searched on social media for the boy's family,
She is referred to in court as "baby E" in the days and months that follow, including Christmas Day.
Hours after the death of "Child E" on August 5, 2015, Lytby allegedly attempted to kill his twin brother "Child F" by injecting insulin into a bag of feeding fluid.
Johnson said negligence was ruled out,
Because insulin was not prescribed to another child in the ward, Lytby hung the bag and was in the room at the time of the boy's poisoning.
"The only credible candidate 'to be toxic' is Lytby," he said, "the same person who was present at all the collapses and unexplained deaths at the Countess of Chester Hospital in the neonatal unit."
The murders of five boys and two girls and the attempted murder of five boys and five girls allegedly occurred between June 2015 and June 2016.
'deliberate'
The court was told that the first victim - "Baby A" - was born prematurely and was only a day old when he died on June 8, 2015.
again after air is injected into the bloodstream.
His twin sister survived - "Baby B" -
of an attempt hours later, while 'Baby C' - a five-day-old - was killed six days later when air was injected into his stomach.
Lytby was in shifts on all three occasions.
Her next victim - a premature baby, "Baby D" -
He died on June 22, 2015, again in the same manner, allegedly.
Prosecutors said Lytby then sent letters to friends explaining that the cases could be explained by natural causes.
She also searched again on Facebook for the child's parents.
In September of that year,
Lytby allegedly tried three times to kill a baby girl who was born four months ago and weighed just over 500 grams (1.1 lbs).
The prosecution said that the girl - who is referred to as "Child Ji" -
She was fed excessive amounts of milk and may have been injected with air, causing her to vomit.
The third time, I stopped breathing.
But Johnson said a device to measure oxygen saturation levels and heart rate levels was stopped, and that Lytby, who "spotted" the unresponsive baby, was trying to resuscitate her.
He added that the child was "severely disabled".
All of the deaths and collapses "did not occur naturally or randomly," Johnson said.
