The United States believes that Russia may be advising Iran on how to conduct its crackdown on mass protests sparked by the death of a woman after her arrest by the morality police.
The White House is "concerned that Moscow may advise Iran on best practices for managing protests, drawing on ... extensive experience in suppressing" dissent,
Press Secretary Karen Jean-Pierre said:

John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, was less clear about whether the Kremlin had actually ordered such a move.
"Maybe they are thinking of some kind of support to suppress the Iranian protesters," he said.
"We're seeing signs that they might be thinking about the ability to train,
"It's a pity that Russia has experience," he said.
Kirby also reiterated allegations that Iranian personnel are in occupied Ukraine to help Russian forces use deadly drones in a campaign largely targeting civilian infrastructure.
"They are now on the ground in Crimea to assist in this effort," he said.
