The White House on Monday hosted the largest-ever Diwali reception on Monday which also saw the attendance of many Indian-Americans from the Biden administration.
“We are honored to host you. This is the first Diwali party of this size ever in the White House.
“We have more Asian Americans in history than ever before, and we want to thank you for making the celebration of Diwali a joyful part of American culture,” US President Joe Biden said during a reception to celebrate Diwali at the White House.

Wishing Happy Diwali to over 1 Billion Hindus, Jains and Sikhs,
And Buddhists who celebrate this festival of lights in the United States, India and around the world, Biden thanked the Asian American community in the United States for making the celebration of Diwali a joyful part of American culture.

“As we host the official Diwali party for the White House,
We are honored to light up the bloodshed surrounded by members of one of the most diverse administrations in American history -
Led by Vice President Kamala Harris, the first black American and South Asian to become Vice President."

Biden thanked him for his optimism and courage,
And the empathy shown by the amazing South Asian community across America.
"South Asian Americans together reflect the spirit of who we are as a nation, whether it helps us emerge stronger from this pandemic, build an economy that works for all, or serve and protect our communities and country."

As the world celebrates this gathering of light, he said, “As this community has so often suffered — that there is always darkness lurking.

American history has been a constant struggle between the American ideal that we are all created equal and the harsh reality that we have not fully lived up to it.
By celebrating the victory of light over darkness, Diwali is a reminder that each of us has the power to bring light into the world, whether here in America or around the world."
Through prayers, dances, fireworks, and sweets, Biden said, “I wish all who observe Diwali the opportunity to celebrate, connect and feel proud in the community,
And remember the power in the gathering of light.”

Moreover, US Vice President Kamala Harris also delivered remarks from the White House on the occasion of Diwali celebrations. She said ,
"The White House is the home of the people and together our President and First Lady have made this place where every American can celebrate their honor and their traditions."

Tonight, Vice President Harris said, the Biden administration is joining more than a billion people around the world to light "the light" and celebrate the fight for good over evil.
Knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness.
Furthermore, First Lady Jill Biden praised the Asian American community in the United States for "helping us light our way forward."

The first lady said, "With persistence, faith, and love, I am grateful that these religions have guided you today into this home. A home that belongs to all of you."
Diwali is an auspicious festival that symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
Brilliant lights, firecrackers, irresistible traditional sweets and an exchange of gifts are all the highlight of the festival.

As Hindus celebrate this festival to commemorate Lord Rama's return home after 14 years in exile and his victory over Ravana,
For people of Jain faith, this festival holds the essence of spiritual ascent as it represents the fulfillment of Nirvana or Moksha by Mahavira, the last Tirthankara.
