Video: Taliban Official Beats Female Students Outside Afghan University

Since taking over the reins in August last year, Taliban has put severe restrictions on women's freedom in Afghanistan.

Shocking footage emerged from Afghanistan showing a Taliban official beating female students protesting their right to education after they were prevented from attending university for not wearing a burqa.

A report in the newspaper "The Independent" stated that the official who was seen using a whip on the students belongs to the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of the Taliban government.

The newspaper said in its report that the accident occurred outside the gates of Badakhshan University in northeastern Afghanistan on Sunday.

The video shows a Taliban government official chasing the students and forcing them to disperse. Dozens of students were knocking on the university's doors for the authorities to allow them to enter.

Since taking over in August last year, the Taliban have imposed severe restrictions on women's freedom of movement, speech and expression,

Jobs and clothing. It also prevented girls from attending school from the sixth grade.

The Taliban's Ministry of Public Ethics and Virtue specified appropriate dress for women in public places - either the niqab (the veil that covers the head and face but not the eyes) or the burqa.

Naqibullah Qazizadeh, the university's president, said the terrorist group's violence and illegal behavior towards students will be taken care of, and the student's request will be met, Khamma Press reported.
