French President Emmanuel Macron said at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was right when he said that the time was not for war.
“Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India was right when he said that the time is not for war. Not for revenge against the West,
Or to oppose the West against the East.
It is time for a collective time for our equal and sovereign nation. To meet the challenges we face."
This statement came in reference to the conversation of Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin in which the former said,
“This afternoon is not war and I talked to you about it during the call. Today we will get a chance to talk about how we can move forward on the path to peace.
India and Russia have been together for several decades. "
This came during a bilateral meeting held by the Prime Minister on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
“We talked several times over the phone about bilateral relations between India and Russia and various issues. We must find ways to address the problems of food, fuel and fertilizer security.
I would like to thank Russia and Ukraine for helping us evacuate our students from Ukraine.”
In response to Prime Minister Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he knows India's position on the conflict in Ukraine and "we want all of this to end as soon as possible".
“I know your position on the conflict in Ukraine.
I know about your concerns. We want all of this to end as soon as possible."
“But the other side, the leadership of Ukraine, claimed ... that they refuse to engage in the negotiation process. They said that they want to achieve their goals, they say, on the battlefield militarily.
We'll keep you posted on everything that's going on there."
"The rare reproach showed that the 69-year-old Russian strongman is under extraordinary pressure from all sides," the newspaper said.
Putin said that relations between Russia and India are in the nature of a distinguished strategic partnership and continue to develop very rapidly.
