A number of law enforcement officers in the United States are under investigation after a video clip showing a police officer grabbing and hitting a student in a café cart surfaced on social media. The accident occurred Wednesday at Nimitz High School in Irving, Texas.

The video depicted the students falling and hitting each other as the officers intervened.

An officer was seen grabbing a student and hitting him in a lunch cart before falling to the ground. When the student stands, the policeman pushes him back to the floor.

It is not clear what led to the initial altercation or whether the student and police officers interacted before or after the video was shot.

In a press release, the Irving Police Department admitted that officers used force to separate and detain students involved in the fighting.

"The Irving Police Department reviews each use of force to ensure that policies and procedures are applied appropriately," the press note read. "We saw videos from this battle that were circulated on social media, and an internal investigation was launched," she added.

Moreover, the cops reported that the officer who pushed the student had been reassigned while the investigation was ongoing. On the other hand, students involved in combat are being referred to Class C misdemeanor combat in public, NBC News reported.
