North Korea's military said on Monday that the recent military exercises between South Korea and the United States were an "open provocation and dangerous war exercises", the official Korean Central News Agency said, and responded with measures simulating the bombing of its air bases and warplanes.
Last week, North Korea tested-
Several missiles including an ICBM and hundreds of artillery shells were fired into the sea, as South Korea and the United States carried out a six-day air drill until Saturday.
The North Korean military said the "vigilance" exercises were an "open provocation aimed at deliberately escalating tension" and a "dangerous war drill of a very aggressive nature."
The North Korean military said it conducted activities simulating various attacks on its air bases and aircraft, as well as a major city in South Korea,
"To crush the continual war hysteria of the enemies"
It confirmed the launch of two apparently "strategic" cruise missiles with nuclear capabilities on November 2 toward waters off Ulsan, the southeastern coastal city that houses a nuclear power plant and large factory parks.
Operations also included the launch of "two tactical ballistic missiles loaded with dispersed warheads", testing of a "special functional warhead that paralyzes the enemy's operational command system" and a "comprehensive combat sortie" of 500 combat aircraft.
The General Staff of the North Korean People's Army (KPA) accused Seoul and Washington of provoking a "more unstable confrontation," and vowed to counter the exercises with "continuous, resolute and crushing operational military measures."
